Love Letters

First love letter sent by Robert Browning to Elizabeth BarrettI had a sporadic thought tonight. Whatever happened to writing love letters? We live in a fast food nation where everything is given to us instantly. I want the old days back when you wrote a long-hand love letter expressing your feelings. And then you had to wait a week or so for a response. Hell! I’ll settle for a grammatically correct email in a form of a love letter.

The art of wooing has severely changed with the world’s dependency on the Internet, search engines, Facebook, Twitter, and–yes, dare I say it–Wikipedia. I demand that the “wow” factor be put back into dating and romance. There’s something desirable about waiting on edge for someone’s words or actions, knowing they feel the butterflies in their stomach as you do. But what do I know?

I guess that’s why I’ll always be a hopeless romantic.

Enjoy!
